The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing is seeking aSenior Research Program Coordinator II for theJohns Hopkins University Mid-Atlantic Center for Cardiometabolic Health EquityHealthy For 2/Healthy for U – Home Visiting (H42/H4U-HV) research study. Along with study investigators, this position will manage all operations of the H42/H4U-HV study.

H42/H4U-HV is an effectiveness-implementation hybrid trail to assess the effect of remotely delivered health coaching on pregnancy weight gain/retention and to inform future sustainability in prenatal home visiting programs. The H42/H4U-HV intervention has 4 main components: (1)Health coaching remote communication paced with gestational week (phone calls, email or text messages or video calls); (2) Interactive web-based platform with learning activities (focused on healthy diet, physical activity and wellness), behavioral goal setting functionality, and tools for communicating with health coaches; (3) Weight/diet/physical mobile activity trackers; (4) Referrals to community resources.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Coordinate Translation & Adaptation of the Intervention:

  • Work with study team members on the translation of the intervention from English to Spanish.
  • Work with study team members and community consultants to adapt intervention materials to ensure cultural relevance for Spanish speaking participants.
  • Oversee creation of interactive web-based Spanish language platform with learning activities.
  • Organize work with home visiting program partners to adapt study protocol.
  • Plan agendas and help facilitate Home Visiting Program Leader meetings with home visiting program partners to reach consensus on the adaptation of study protocols.
  • Keep records of decisions made in Home Visiting Program Leader meetings and communicate decisions and next-steps with program partners.

Coordinate Study Implementation:

  • Develop home visitor training and associated training materials (i.e., handouts, presentations) and policies and procedures.
  • Draft research protocols (research plans, consent/recruitment materials and assessments).
  • Manages study protocol in the IRB, include changes in research and continuing reviews and protocol events.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures for recruitment and data collection.
  • Recognize safety concerns among participants and assists with management and coordination with study PI and co-Is.
  • Create and maintain documents related to study coordination (policies and procedures manuals, study tracking logs, and study timelines).
  • Assists in the develop of retention strategies for the Control group, particularly newsletters, birthday cards.
  • Plan study meetings and track major action items for all working groups (translation, recruitment/retention, data mgmt/analysis, etc.).
  • Conducting weekly conference calls and daily individual phone calls with off-site study team members to monitor study progress.
  • Provide updates on current progress of the study as requested
  • Works as liaison/”face of the study” (along with Coach Managers) to collaborate with home visiting programs
    • Communicate regularly and make visits to home visiting program partner sites in Maryland provide on-site program intervention monitoring, technical assistance and quality assurance.
  • Train and supervise research assistants and data collectors with day-to-day activities.
  • Oversee and implement study recruitment and enrollment activities and retention strategies (e.g., gift cards, birthday and birth cards, reminder calls/texts) to ensure high rates of study enrollment, follow-up and survey completion.

Oversee & Assist with Publication Writing:

  • Assist with preparation of presentations for conferences and writing of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.

Data Management & Program Evaluation:

  • Help to set-up and monitor data management system.
  • Clean and code quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Assist with reporting requirements to the study work group (e.g. data quality reports), the Safety Officer, NIH and the IRB.
  • Track and reporting adverse events.
  • Coordinate relevant data safety monitoring boards.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline.
  • 5 years related experience.
  • Spanish language fluency (written and spoken).
  • Additional education (Master's level) may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

*JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree in Public Health, Nursing or related discipline.
  • Experience working in early home visiting.
  • At least 1-2 years research coordination or research experience in nursing, public or mental health.
  • Proficiency in RedCap, basic statistical and qualitative software, data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of clinical research practices and principles.
  • Interest in pregnant women and maternal health.
  • Understanding of clinical care and workflows.
