Sexual Violence Prevention Coordinator

General Statement of Job

The Sexual Violence Prevention Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of Missouri Southern’s Sexual Violence Prevention program. The individual schedules, facilitates, promotes, administers and leads all training programs on campus. The Sexual Violence Prevention Coordinator ensures that trainings are provided to specific high-risk populations, as well as the broader campus community.

The Sexual Violence Prevention Coordinator serves on various campus committees including the Partners in Prevention Coalition and the Behavior Intervention Team. The Sexual Violence Prevention Coordinator will assist in Missouri Southern’s prevention and student wellness initiatives. Furthermore, the position plays an active role in the implementation of Title IX and consent training at Missouri Southern. This position is required to maintain a flexible work schedule in order to coordinate and attend some evening and weekend training and programming needs for program implementation.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

Oversee the implementation of the Sexual Violence Prevention Program at Missouri Southern State University as it was intended to be implemented by the developer of the program.

Coordinator is responsible for chairing the Sexual Violence Prevention Advisory Committee.

Supervises the stipend time of one other professional staff members.

Administer the Program budget.

Ensure that all trainers have completed the Prevention Strategy Training for Colleges. Ensure that the University maintains a minimum of two certified instructors.

Develop strategic partnerships in the community and on campus to support sustainable program implementation.

Participate in Department of Health and Senior Services sponsored trainings and technical assistance.

Stay current regarding publications and current topics and issues regarding sexual violence prevention and other forms of prevention programs.

Complete all reports and data requests required by the grant. Reports include monthly activity reports describing activities performed during the previous month with monthly invoices.

Submit an annual report to the Department of Health and Senior Services along with the final invoice for the year.

Develop a comprehensive sexual violence prevention plan.

Maintains data and ensures that all monthly and year-end financial reports are submitted properly and in a timely manner.

Coordinate the delivery of information to students, faculty, staff and members of the community seeking prevention education presentations.

Develop and implement educational initiatives, advise student organizations, and assist students in the development of programs to create community and enhance their appreciation for and understanding of violence prevention.

Supervise the Bystander Intervention Program including the Advisory Committee and the overload hours of one stipend professional staff members.

Serve as the primary contact for grants and research related to the program.

Serve as the primary facilitator of the team of trained faculty and staff instructors.

Assist in the preparation and distribution of informational and marketing materials.

Promote and market events, activities, and schedules to campus community.

Maintain websites and social media for program.

Conduct assessment to measure and evaluate the program’s prevention initiatives.

Utilize assessment data to enhance trainings, presentations, and programs.

Collaborate with faculty and staff on prevention education that will enhance and supplement the classroom experience, as well as in the implementation of events, trainings, and programs.

Provide advocacy and support for students on issues of inequity, injustice, and marginalization around issues of power-based personal violence.

Assist in the development and publication of annual reports including the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, and Biennial Review.

Work closely with the Title IX Coordinator to deliver Title IX and consent training to high-risk populations and the broader campus community.

Assist in other University prevention and student wellness initiatives.

Serve on Partners in Prevention Coalition, Behavior Intervention Team, Clery Committee and other state and University wide committees and task forces as appropriate.

Plan, coordinate, and implement a variety of trainings, programs, and special events, which sometimes occur in evening or weekend hours.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Licenses

Bachelor’s degree preferred in Student Personnel, Student Affairs, Education, Counseling, Education Administration, Health Promotion, Wellness, Social Work, Women’s & Gender Studies, or related field. High School diploma or GED required.

CPR/AED Certification preferred.

Must have a valid driver’s license.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, occasionally the employee is exposed to very loud music during rock-type concerts.
