Job Title: ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR STUDENT PROGRAMS AND ENGAGEMENT

Department: Student Affairs

Facility: School of Osteopathic Medicine – Sewell Campus

Reports To: Assistant Dean for Student Programs and Alumni Engagement



SUMMARY

The candidate will direct and manage all student non-academic activities on the SOM Sewell campus, including student club events, student government events, community service, wellness programs and other engagement programs, as well as school-led programming. The candidate will provide oversight and assistance with SOM signature event planning (orientation, White Coat Ceremony, Match Day and Commencement), SOM school-wide wellness programming, SOM student and alumni engagement social media, the SOM student affairs website, and alumni/student enrichment programming. The candidate will also serve as administrator for student health, provide guidance for students seeking mental health services, serve as an MSPE advisor and is a resource person for general student support and counsel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the administrative lead for all student programming on the Sewell campus. This includes scheduling, planning, logistics, promotions, speakers, set-ups, rentals, catering, social media, marketing, media support and briefing documents.

Serve as the campus lead for all student-led events, activities, athletic events, community service programming, fundraisers/drives and meetings.

In partnership with student groups and the Stratford campus Student Affairs team, develop and implement programming for wellness and engagement for SOM students and coordinate all facets of the programming.

Serve as the administrative lead for the school’s student mental health training programs, including QPR training, and provides counsel for students seeking mental health services and resources.

Serve as the campus liaison for all student services on the Sewell campus.

Oversee administration of student health programs on the Sewell campus, informing students of important policy information, deadlines assisting with adjudication for outstanding health bills and approving payments for needlestick incidents. Counsel students about health insurance coverage options.

Collaborate with team members on the Stratford campus to coordinate signature events for all SOM, including Orientation Week, the White Coat Ceremony, Match Day and Commencement. Provides support and oversight for all elements of these events that occur on the Sewell Campus.

Collaborate with team members on the Stratford campus to provide oversight and assistance with the SOM social media sites, including posting news and information from the Sewell campus.

Collaborate with team members on the Stratford campus to provide oversight and assistance with the SOM Student Affairs website updates, including the Health and Wellness pages as well as the Sewell campus web page.

Provide administrative support and content updates as needed for the school’s student handbook.

Serve as contributing editor for feature stories, news and information for the Sewell campus for the monthly Dean’s E-news and other publications; also assists with the department’s monthly and annual reports, including all Sewell campus updates.

Work with Assistant Dean for Student Programs and Alumni Engagement to develop programming with alumni that enriches the student experience and professional development and creates networking opportunities.

Oversee day-to-day activities of the Student Affairs office and partial supervision for a full-time staff assistant.

Recommend the hiring, firing, promoting, demoting, merit increases, transfers and/or disciplining of employees and other personnel changes where appropriate.

Provide oversight for the Sewell campus student affairs budgets, track purchase orders, payments and ensure that expenditures are in accordance with allocated funds.

Assist the Assistant Dean for Student Programs and Alumni Engagement and Associate Dean for Student Affairs with the preparation of the annual budget for the Sewell campus, executive summary and justification(s) for anticipated projects/programs/staff.

Assist with additional projects as directed by the Assistant Dean for Student Programs and Alumni Engagement and/or the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and/or Campus Dean.

Provide outstanding customer service to all constituencies that are served by SOM; demonstrates high level of professionalism and integrity.

Understand and adhere to Rowan University Compliance, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Keep abreast of all federal, state, and Rowan University regulations, laws, policies as they presently exist and as they are changed or modified.

Ensure that staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A Masters Degree is required plus a minimum of three (3) years of university-level experience in Student Affairs, Student Program Development, and/or related work. A high-level of computer proficiency and demonstrated use of technology is required. Must possess excellent communication skills and copywriting ability, and demonstrated experience in event planning, program development, creating wellness initiatives and managing budgets.
