Under the direction of the associate vice president for Marketing and Brand Strategy and assistant director of Marketing, the Marketing Specialist facilitates and implements integrated and strategic marketing plans for Metropolitan State University of Denver’s programs, departments, schools/colleges and contributes to the overall achievement of the University’s strategic plan. The Marketing Specialist supports and facilitates the University’s centralized advertising campaigns and creation and production of other supporting marketing materials for the University, colleges, departments and programs. This individual helps manage marketing and advertising vendor relationships, supporting copywriting for advertisements and production of other necessary marketing materials.

The Marketing Specialist, part of the University Communications and Marketing ( UCM ) branch, engages in the group’s client services approach to supporting campus partner marketing and advertising needs. In doing so, the Marketing Specialist provides a seamless experience for those seeking UCM support and services and ensuring campus partner marketing and advertising objectives align with MSU Denver’s strategic marketing goals.

The Marketing Specialist recommends, implements, tracks and coordinates site/program/college-specific marketing and advertising plans, provides copy-writing and creative support and facilitates institutional marketing and advertising campaigns. Through exceptional customer service, this individual anticipates campus partner needs and helps drive/influence cohesive and comprehensive cross-channel marketing and advertising strategies where possible. This team member uses strong analytic reporting to prepare reports highlighting key trends and opportunities for the assistant director of Marketing and AVP for Marketing and Brand Strategy as needed, and shepherds continual improvement and data-driven assessment of MSU Denver marketing and advertising efforts. This position reports to the assistant director of Marketing.

IND208 Duties/Responsibilities
Institutional Marketing/Advertising Support and Implementation 45%
  • Write advertising and marketing copy (to include strategic marketing and advertising plans, advertising copy, promotional materials content creation, social media copy, etc.)
  • Track marketing and advertising projects including estimating costs and overseeing associated budget
  • Coordinate with the design team efforts to deliver marketing and advertising creative assets
  • Facilitate delivery of advertising and marketing assets with vendors and advertising partners
Client Services: Consult, collaborate, support schools/departments/programs 45%
  • Develop and write strategic marketing and advertising plans for colleges programs, departments, aligned with MSU Denver marketing goals
  • Support UCM client services program
  • Facilitate allocating resources and providing consistent and timely responses to requests for marketing support from internal stakeholders
  • Facilitate consultation services and provide insight to site-based (school, department, program, etc.) marketing and advertising planning
  • Monitor and track site-based marketing and advertising plans for trends and metrics reporting
  • Collaborate with UCM branch teammates to implement cohesive marketing and advertising cross-channel activities
  • Ensure consistency of messages across site-based initiatives
  • Facilitate and serve as a resource and content area expert for Campus Creative Marketing Cohort
  • Co-Lead Campus Brand Ambassador Training program with UCM teammates
  • Prepare summaries and snapshots of site-based efforts for metrics reporting
Other Duties 10%
  • Support achievement of University mission, strategic goals, team goals and individual goals • Represent the marketing, brand strategy and design teams in developing strong connections across the University/campus
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business or Communications, or related field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years proven experience in marketing and advertising role
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in marketing and advertising copy writing, messaging and branding and facilitating marketing and advertising plans.
