The Department of Accounting
The Department
of Accounting at Durham University seeks to appoint a talented
individual to the role of Assistant Professor (Teaching). We
welcome applications from those with teaching interests in the
broad field of accounting and we are particularly eager to hear
from applicants with a focus on data analytics in the context of
accounting, sustainability and public accountability.
This post
offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of
the Department of Accounting teaching and curriculum, while
allowing you unrivalled opportunities to progress and embed your
career in an exciting and progressive institution. The successful
candidate should be eager to take on managerial/administrative
roles in the Department (such as Programme Director) and uphold
teaching excellence.
You will be
expected to engage in scholarship related to pedagogy, noting that
any other independent research (beyond pedagogy) is not part of
this post. The appointment will be on the University's 'Teaching
Track' career path, which provides clearly defined opportunities
for progression against defined criteria. This is supported by a
Teaching Track Academic Development Network, at University
level.
Durham
University Business School has twelve research centres, two of
which have close links to the Department of Accounting. These are
the Ethical Finance Accountability and Governance (EFAG) centre
which focuses on sustainability/sustainable development goals and
the International Centre of Public Accountability (ICOPA) which
focuses on public accountability. In addition, the Durham Rutgers
Accounting Analytics Network (DRAAN) sits within the Accounting
Department and focusses on data analytics/AI.
