 FACULTY POSITION IN TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING AT FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY (FIU) - MIAMI, FLORIDA

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Florida International University invites applicants for a tenured/tenure-track track open-rank (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor) position in Transportation Engineering. Qualified senior candidates may be considered for tenured positions. 

Candidates in all areas of public transit including design and operations of sustainable bus, rail, intermodal, and shared mobility systems will be considered. Candidates with expertise in advanced technologies, big data analytics, system resiliency, environmental and community health impacts, or optimization methods related to public transit are especially encouraged to apply. The candidates must have an earned doctoral degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. Evidence of research/scholarship is required. Industrial experience and/or experience of collaboration with industry partners is a plus. Registration as a Professional Engineer in Florida (or the ability to obtain such licensure within four years of employment) is preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, direct graduate students, and establish a strong externally funded research program in the areas of expertise.

The successful candidate will join a highly active transportation research group and be part of the Lehman Center of Transportation Research (LCTR). The successful candidate is encouraged to work across disciplines and will have access to several state-of-the-art research laboratories, including: 1) Integrated Intelligent Transportation Systems and Cooperative Driving Automation Laboratory; 2) South Florida Driving Simulation Laboratory; and 3) Wall of Wind, an NSF Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI) Experimental Facility (EF) that can test wind induced failure of roadway structures in wind events. The FIU College of Engineering and Computing is expanding its impact in the four thrust areas (i) infrastructure and resiliency, (ii) information technology and security, (iii) health, and (iv) clean energy. Candidates pursuing research at the interface of multiple areas in CEE, College of Engineering and across the university are highly desirable to create new opportunities for interdisciplinary teamwork and multidisciplinary research proposals.
