Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Assistant Professor (2 posts) in Restorative Dental Sciences (Endodontics) of the Faculty of Dentistry (Ref.: 511497), to commence as soon as possible, on a four-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second four-year fixed-term contract.

The Faculty of Dentistry is the only dental school in Hong Kong and is the only one in Greater China that uses English as the medium of instruction. The high quality of the Faculty’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, clinical services and research excellence attained global recognition, as evidenced by the Faculty’s World Ranking among the top 1% by the QS World University Ranking by Subject in the past six years. The Faculty’s strategic research themes include Clinical Artificial Intelligence, Craniofacial Regeneration, Microbiome Innovation, Oral Cancer, and Population Oral Health. The Faculty also plays an important role in public and professional education through its knowledge exchange activities as well as in dental and oral health research, and promotions in international, regional and local communities.

The Faculty is seeking an academic clinician with a strong interest in clinical dental practice, teaching and learning, with established evidence and passion for research. Applicants should have demonstrated skills in teaching and learning in Restorative Dental Sciences pertaining to the Discipline of Endodontics. They should be able to demonstrate expertise in contemporary clinical practice and philosophies of endodontic therapy and its relation to advanced clinical restorative dentistry. A demonstrated research track record in a field relating to Endodontics is essential. The appointee will play a major role in the clinical learning of BDS students, as well as taking a role in specialty postgraduate training in Endodontics depending on the level of experience, and participate in research within the Faculty.

For appointment as Clinical Associate Professor, applicants should possess a dental Bachelor's degree or equivalent, clinical specialist in Endodontics or equivalent status, and a Ph.D. degree or equivalent. They should have (i) proven ability for quality research, publications in high quality international journals, and evidence of local and regional recognition for scholarship and professional expertise; (ii) demonstrated ability in undergraduate and postgraduate education, clinical practice and research; (iii) demonstrated participation in Faculty and University affairs; and (iv) demonstrated ability in knowledge exchange (KE) activities, and leadership in professional education programmes or community engagement.

For appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor, applicants should possess a dental Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and a Master of Dental Surgery degree or equivalent in the speciality of Endodontics. They should also have (i) ability in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical practice; (ii) potential for and interest in research; (iii) ability and willingness to participate in Faculty affairs; and (iv) participation in KE activities.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
