Research Support Specialist, Communicative Disorders and Sciences

Position Summary

The Research Support Specialist will work full-time (37.5 hours per week), with 50% of their time supporting the UB Language Learning Lab (PI: Hendricks) and 50% of their time supporting the Adult Language Network Lab (PI: Castro), as follows:
  • Both research labs are actively recruiting potential research participants, which requires administering a battery of assessments
  • The UB Language Learning Lab is dedicated to research related to better understanding language learning among school-age children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, with the goal to improve the identification and treatment of language disorders.
  • The Adult Language Network Lab is dedicated to research related to how adults retrieve words from memory, with the goal to improve word retrieval treatment outcomes for adults with aphasia.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Education, Psychology, or other related fields
  • Research experience, including participant recruitment/scheduling and data collection and entry
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and adaptively
  • Must be available for occasional evening and weekend commitments

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Education, Psychology, or related fields
  • Previous experience with test development and/or administration following a standardized protocol
  • Previous experience working with children and/or adults with language disorders
