Job Description Summary

Wentworth Institute of Technology is seeking applicants interested in joining the Wentworth community as a Director of Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives and Engagement .

Reporting directly to the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Director of Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives and Engagement will provide leadership on developing and executing initiatives that promote the strategic goal of inclusive excellence. The Director will have an essential role in developing initiatives and programs that promote inclusion, intercultural competence, and mutual respect across the University. This position serves as a proactive thought-leader and collaborator to identify opportunities for DEI education practices and programs across the institution. The Director will collaborate with stakeholders to assess potential barriers and develop and implement strategies to retain students. This position will interface with all divisions. The Director will research and assess factors that impact historically excluded and underrepresented populations, as well as develop, design, and facilitate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion workshops.

Minimum Education Required

Master's degree

Preferred Education

Minimum Work Experience Required

Minimum 5 years relevant experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion in a professional or academic setting.

Preferred Work Experience

Possess demonstrated comfort and experience with Microsoft Office tools

Minimum Knowledge Required

Comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts and practices and ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations.

· Experience developing and delivering workshops and programming on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
· Demonstrate significant understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion and intercultural competence.
· Supervisory experience
· Ability to take initiative, work independently and develop and execute plans.
· Excellence in effective communication, public presentations and customer service for a wide variety of audiences.
· Proven success collaborating effectively with others in developing and executing inclusion initiatives.
· Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills including a high level of emotional intelligence, the ability to exercise discretion, neutrality and lead difficult conversations.
· Experience working with historically excluded and underrepresented communities.
