Job Summary

The Social Work Program at the University of Texas at Tyler is seeking a non-tenure track lecturer to begin Fall Semester, 2022. Duties include teaching four courses per semester, student advisement responsibilities, assistance with field internships as needed, and serving on relevant committees. Successful candidate must be able to teach across the BSW curriculum to develop professional generalist social workers that are knowledgeable, skilled, and ethical in keeping with the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation standards. This candidate will also serve as liaison between the department and the community, maintain office hours in accordance with university policy, provide service to the university and community, and perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair and Social Work Program Director. Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • At least two (2) years of post-master’s social work degree practice experience.
  • Evidence of teaching or similar experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Social Work or DSW.
  • Licensed at the LMSW or LCSW level.
  • Teaching experience in social work.
  • Record of scholarly publication and/or external funding.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students.

 

Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

  • Academic experience with skills and experience in instructional design and course development to include online teaching.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective and constructive collaborative relationships with faculty and administration throughout the university.
  • Record of professional activities related to social work practice and education.

 

Other Information

The candidate will be expected to teach across the BSW foundation curriculum to include courses on research methods and macro-related courses.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
