Full Time - 10 Months
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments, identify needs, and develop treatment plans for short-term personal counseling with students. Effectively engage, retain and manage caseload. Develop and implement appropriate discharge or transfer planning with student and relevant parties and conduct necessary follow-up.
- Makes appropriate off-campus referrals
- Meets with Director of Counseling Services to review cases
- Documents, organizes and manages confidential client records in accordance with professional standards and state and federal law
- Assists in the development of educational programming on student mental health issues
- Serve as a consultant and resource person for faculty and staff regarding the mental health of individual students
- Promotes counseling services through presentations to students, faculty, and staff.
- Develop and maintain a positive relationship with University faculty, staff, and students; student families and partners, and local mental health care providers.
- Respond to campus crisis situations as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
- Master's degree in counseling or social work required
- Valid clinical licensure for the State of Wisconsin required
- 3+ years' of postgraduate degree experience is required.
- Strong knowledge and skill working with mental health issues in the college student population
- Understanding of insurance and the referral process
- Experience providing services to individuals from marginalized and diverse backgrounds is preferred
- Experience with college-age population preferred
