Job Description
The Department of Educational Leadership in the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership to begin fall 2022. The department seeks candidates with experience in P-20 leadership (school or district or higher education administration) and with research focusing on critical methodologies in their scholarship and approaches to teaching, enhancing the Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) mission of the university. The selected candidate will be expected to teach both online and face-to-face classes and will be expected to be on campus for teaching, service, and office hours at least 2-3 days per week. May involve night, weekend, and electronic course delivery.
Our graduates use scholarly inquiry and practice to guide decisions on all levels of educational activity, in K-12 and higher education settings. We are seeking a critical research scholar with experience in educational leadership or educational administration to help prepare outstanding educational leaders. The ideal candidate is one who is prepared to help build scholarly capacity in our students that allows them to investigate and address social issues of equity and democracy in their professional settings. This faculty member is projected to teach specifically core coursework in Educational Leadership for the teaching portion of their workload.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the University's teaching, research, and service
missions
- Teaches core graduate courses in the educational leadership
department
- Serves graduate students as faculty advisor and serve/chair on
dissertation committees
- Produces peer-reviewed scholarship and contributes to the
research relevant to the COEHD mission and surrounding
communities
- Serves on department, college, and university committees and
attends general academic meetings, commencement, and other special
events
Required Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, Educational
Administration or closely related field from an accredited college
or university.
- Demonstrated expertise in research focusing on critical
methodologies in their scholarship and approaches to teaching,
enhancing the HSI mission of the university.
- Experience of teaching/working with diverse students, including
ongoing efforts to improve pedagogy and student
outcomes.
- Demonstrated potential of engagement in scholarly/creative
works that address issues of equity and social justice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior university level teaching experience.
- Experience seeking external grants and/or managing funded
projects.
- Experience in university teaching in a variety of delivery
modalities, to include evidence of face-to-face, online, or hybrid
instruction.
- A record of professional leadership experience in an
educational setting (K-12/higher education).
