Job Summary
The Department of History and Geography at Columbus State University seeks applications for the Colonel Richard R. Hallock Distinguished University Chair in Military History. The successful candidate should have a record of excellence in university teaching and scholarship sufficient to warrant appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, the Hallock Chair will further develop the department's program in military history, collaborate with local institutions, expand community programming, develop internships, and strengthen student research opportunities. Specialization within the field of military history is open. The start date for this position is August 1, 2022.

Responsibilities
Significant responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Military History each fall and spring semester (2/2 teaching load); mentoring and advising students; offering at least one section of Introduction to U.S. Military History each year; cultivating partnerships with local institutions, like Fort Benning, the National Infantry Museum, and the National Civil War Naval Museum; and planning and organizing the Hallock Lecture Series in the fall and spring.

Required Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D in Military History, a national reputation as a scholar in Military History, outstanding skills in communication, and the ability to engage n collegial collaborative activities on campus and throughout the community. The successful candidate will also foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration, work continuously to improve history education, and engage in practices that support the University's focus on student engagement and active learning.
