Marquette University announces a tenure-track position in the Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology (CECP) in the College of Education. A future-focused counselor education program committed to preparing professional counselors, seeks applicants to teach in the clinical mental health or school counseling programs and conduct innovative research within a framework of social justice, multiculturalism, advocacy, and leadership. Applicants must have earned a Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program or a closely related area from an accredited institution. Applicants may be ABD, but doctoral degrees should be conferred by August 15, 2022.

Faculty responsibilities include teaching and advising in CECP graduate programs; maintaining a strong research agenda; and participating in university, professional, and community service. Interest in obtaining external funding is desirable. Individuals who would contribute to the diversity of our faculty are strongly encouraged to apply. The appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level, with salary commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Marquette University is a Catholic, Jesuit, doctoral research university located on a beautiful urban campus minutes from downtown Milwaukee, and close to the parks and beaches of Lake Michigan. The CECP department consists of ten full-time faculty members; offers two CACREP-accredited master’s programs (i.e., Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling) and an APA-accredited doctoral program in Counseling Psychology.

Initial review of applications will begin early February 2022 and will continue until the position is filled. The start date for this position is August 2022. Applicants are requested to submit a letter of interest, a CV, and three professional letters of reference, through the University’s job portal at: https://employment.marquette.edu/postings/15960. Candidates who are currently completing doctoral studies should include the name and contact information of their doctoral advisor and the expected date of completion. Questions about this position may be directed to the department chair, Dr. Alan Burkard, via e-mail at: alan.burkard@marquette.edu.

It is the policy of Marquette University to provide equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or any other applicable federal or state-protected classification.
