Gettysburg College is seeking an experienced professional for a full-time position as Director of Web and Digital Marketing. The Director is part of the leadership team in the Communications and Marketing office at Gettysburg College, reporting to the Executive Director of Communications and Marketing. The Director of Web and Digital Marketing is responsible for creating and implementing digital strategies in support of institutional goals related to enrollment, fundraising, and national reputation. Further, the Director will help the College to create a digital communications strategy that is transformative, accessible, user-centric and outstanding among our peers.
The Director of Web and Digital Marketing is a 12-month, full-time administrative appointment. Salary and title are commensurate with experience and complemented by an excellent benefits package. This position has the potential to work a hybrid schedule.

The Director will:
- Oversee two members of the Communications and Marketing team.
- Work with a diverse group of stakeholders to develop engaging digital experiences.
- Oversee the College’s website, social media presence, digital marketing strategies, and related digital initiatives and will maintain these platforms so that they are user-focused, responsive, accessible, and engaging.
- Foster the digital maturity of the College by promoting governance initiatives.
- Develop standards for user experience and accessibility, and for collecting and analyzing digital marketing data to inform decision making.
- Work closely with the content strategy team to develop and distribute content that reaches the College’s key audiences and drives engagement.
- Coordinate and oversee the training and activity of the College’s distributed web content editors.
- Build, evolve, and optimize a large marketing website using an enterprise CMS.
- Implement technical SEO, SEM, and marketing automation technologies.
- Gather and synthesize user intent from search, social media, and feedback channels.
- Manage and optimize user flows using the Gettysburg College web design system.
- Work with technical and functional teams on CMS upgrades, enhancements, and data integrations.
- Develop customized and integrated analytics reporting platform using Google tools.
- Contribute to the development of communications and marketing strategy and tactics.
- Experience with front-end development using HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience with a CMS (dotCMS, WordPress, Joomla, etc.)
- Expertise in content, UI, and document accessibility testing and remediation
- Multi-platform ad experience including Facebook, Google, and YouTube
- Experience optimizing video content for search on YouTube
- Previous supervisory experience
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required with at least six years of professional experience in digital strategy and web communications is highly desired.
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to forge relationships with stakeholders and build governance capacity among academic, administrative, and technology departments.
- A strong understanding of digital best practices and strategies across web, paid, and social channels; and demonstrate expertise with Google Analytics, WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), SEO, and applying UX principles.
- Experience in exploring and understanding data to develop tactical insights.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills that facilitate collaboration with colleagues at all levels and with internal and external customers.
- Be self-motivated, efficient, and detail-oriented, and can manage staff and projects while working within a budget.
- Demonstrated communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.
