The Department of Psychology at Old Dominion University invites applications for a fulltime, non-tenure track Lecturer of Psychology position. All applicants must hold a PhD in Psychology or provide evidence that the PhD will be completed prior to July 2022.

PSYCHOLOGY LECTURER

Duties include teaching four courses per semester in support of our undergraduate degree program, undergraduate advising/mentoring, and departmental service. Opportunities for online teaching may also be available. The successful applicant will have demonstrated skill in providing effective instruction in both in person and online environments. The successful applicant will possess the skills needed to successfully advise and mentor undergraduate students. All applicants must hold a PhD in Psychology or provide evidence that the PhD will be completed prior to July 2022. Preference will be given to applicants with the interest, qualifications, and/or experience to teach and develop courses in the following areas: Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Changes (e.g. lifespan development, child, adolescent) and Personality and Social Processes. Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated excellence, or potential for excellence, in teaching.

ABOUT OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY

Old Dominion University’s (ODU) Department of Psychology is in the College of Sciences and includes 29 full-time faculty members, more than 1,300 undergraduate majors, and 75 students in our graduate programs. In addition to participation in the Virginia Consortium PhD Program in Clinical Psychology, the department offers a terminal Master’s degree in Experimental Psychology and Ph.D. concentrations in Health, Human Factors, and Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Faculty research is currently funded by a diverse portfolio of funders. The ODU Department of Psychology has a rich tradition of collaboration among faculty in research, teaching, and management of our department.

Old Dominion University is located in the Hampton Roads area on the Chesapeake Bay in southeastern Virginia. The area is a regional center for military, medical, and scholarly research. Old Dominion University is also home to the Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center which focuses on the use of modeling and simulation technologies for research, education, and economic development.
