Job Summary:

This position provides administrative support for department records under the Supervision of the Accreditation & Records Supervisor. Position manages sizable, complex or non-routine public records requests from within and outside the agency; documents and tracks all relevant information to public records requests; corresponds with parties requesting public records; prepares written cost estimates in connection with public records requests; collaborates with agency personnel to ascertain the volume and nature of responsive records; identifies confidential, exempt and sensitive information in responsive records; performs and coordinates redaction of confidential, exempt, and sensitive information; utilizes agency software to identify, organize and redact public records.

This position is the first contact at the Department Headquarters entrance and assists patrons with their in person requests. Attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects, use considerable independent initiative and judgment, and interpret rules, regulations and statutes governing business rules and operations is required.

Education:

Preferred
H.S. Diploma

Qualifications:

*One or more years work experience in public records, records management, records compliance or legal environment preferred. Other equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

*Candidate must have exceptional organizational skills and strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe pdf, and experience with databases.

*Experience with audio/video/computer software preferred.

*Persons in this position must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License and be eligible to operate University owned vehicles under the conditions outlined by UW Risk Management policies.

Additional Information:

Due to the nature of the position and the fact the person hired is an employee of a police department, persons in this position must pass the initial application screening, all steps of the hiring process, an extensive background investigation including credit history check, reference checks, drug screen, and psychological examination prior to beginning employment.
