Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin - Madison Police Department (UWPD) is responsible for the safety and security of all faculty, staff, students, visitors and property of the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Under the supervision of the Infrastructure Security Lieutenant, this professional position serves as the technical and network support of the central campus access control system. This position develops, configures, documents, tests and maintains applications software and equipment and performs tasks as required to ensure the security and functionality of systems and confidential data in compliance with applicable regulations.

This position serves as a contact person for information and consulting to campus leadership and departments in the design, implementation and maintenance of building access control systems, and provides project coordination with other university departments determining how best to utilize the campus access control systems.

Qualifications:

Applicants for this position must have 6 months of full-time experience working on multiple levels of access control systems and resolving hardware/software issues, compatibility issues, and/or system integration or equivalent certificate or degree may be considered in lieu of experience.

Persons in this position must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License and be eligible to operate University owned vehicles under the conditions outlined by UW Risk Management policies.

Additional Information:

In general, the hours will be during business hours Monday-Friday and they will need to meet the needs of the UWPD. Occasional work beyond or outside hours agreed upon may be required during emergencies, special events or as assigned.

Due to the nature of the position and the fact the person hired is an employee of a police department, persons in this position must pass the initial application screening, all steps of the hiring process, an extensive background investigation including credit history check, reference checks, drug screen, and psychological examination prior to beginning employment.
