Job Summary
The Department of Student Affairs Human Resources welcomes applications for the Student Affairs HR Consultant! Working closely with supervisors and unit liaisons, this position manages the employee recruitment and selection process for University Staff exempt positions within the Division of Student Affairs. This position will also provide employee relations support to student affairs constituents as well as provide oversight of performance management while using Cornerstone. This position works collaboratively with student affairs human resource staff to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for customers and to promote a heightened sense of community in student affairs where employees feel valued individually and as team members.

Student Affairs HR supports all of the departments in the Division to reach their goals by providing HR guidance in the following areas:
- Payroll and Transactional Support
- Performance Management
- Position Management
- Compensation
Recruitment and Selection:
- Responsible for management of all recruitment and selection processes for positions within student affairs including temporary appointments.
- Provide guidance on the selection and recruitment process using CU, state, and departmental guidelines.
- Provide interpretation of division, university, and state guidelines and policies related to recruitment and selection for hiring supervisors.
- Design and implement recruitment and retention strategies.
- Work with hiring supervisors and unit leaders to complete necessary paperwork to initiate a selection process ensuring position number, funding, approving signatures, salary request, and posting information are appropriate and accurate.
- Using university technology, such as HCM and Avature, work with CUHR recruitment team to post vacant positions in a timely manner.
Position Management:
- Assist HR leadership with maintaining and ensuring position descriptions are accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Assist hiring managers with completing edits and resolving questions with position descriptions.
- Responsible for identifying vacant and converted positions for abolishment and make recommendations to supervisors and managers about standard methodologies for position management.
- Train managers on best hiring practices and required routing for position descriptions through the Avature system.
Performance Management:
- Assist in advising managers and directors on how to write effective goals to set clear expectations for their employees.
- Assist managers and supervisors with ensuring performance plans, coaching sessions and evaluations are completed for all employees meeting Division and campus deadlines.
- Train departments on best practices when working in the Cornerstone platform to complete all required tasks and performance planning creation.
Employee Relations:
- Assist managers and supervisors with employees grievances/ dispute resolutions and progressive discipline processes in the Division by partnering with campus HR employee relations.
- Assist managers and supervisors in dealing with employees who are not meeting performance or behavior expectations.
Other Duties as Assigned:
- Provide training to supervisors when needed for Division wide initiatives.
- Participate on committees as appropriate.
For the present, this position will be working in a hybrid model. We anticipate the position being on campus 2-3 days per week. This is subject to change in the future.

What We Can Offer
- Starting salary is $50,000 - $52,000.

What We Require
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
- One year experience in human resources.
- Proven organizational skills and written and oral communication.
- Proven track record to manage details, work efficiently, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently.
- PHR, SHRM-CP or SPHR certification.
- The ability to work as part of a team, and to be flexible and proactive with problem solving, as well as strong customer service attributes are essential for this position.
- Experience in higher education.
- Experience with training and development.
