ABOUT THE COLLEGE:

The College of Health Professions and Science has a strong interest in being a leader in training the next generation of Health and Science Professionals. Current offerings at MSU-Billings include healthcare related degree programs that span areas from careers with direct patient contact (such as Nursing, Athletic Training, Clinical and Mental Health Counseling, Paramedic, Radiology and Ultrasound Technology) to the Allied Health professions (such as Health Administration, Medical Coding and Billing, and Medical Laboratory Sciences. We also offer degrees in Biology, Chemistry and Health and Human Performance that prepare students to continue their education in Medicine, Pharmacy, Physician Assistant Studies, Dentistry, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy. POSITION DESCRIPTION:  

           Cell Biology, Assistant Professor, 1.0 FTE, Appointment in the Department of Biological & Physical Sciences, tenure-track, Fall 2022.  The preferred candidate will have a Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related discipline (ABD may be considered).  Evidence of high- quality college teaching experience and potential for productive, externally funded research in an undergraduate, liberal arts setting are required.   Duties will include teaching introductory and advanced Cell and Molecular Biology courses, General Biology for non-majors and majors, and other courses in the biological sciences as needs dictate.

            In addition, this position will include student advising, recruiting, departmental and campus committee participation, and potential development/delivery of online courses. The successful candidate is expected to share the University commitment to outcomes assessment, continuous quality improvement and ongoing development of the university.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • D. or ABD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology or related field
  • Expertise in cell and molecular biology
  • Evidence of high-quality college teaching experience
  • Potential for productive, externally funded research in an undergraduate, liberal arts setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High academic standards/commitment to rigor

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching general biology
  • Interest in online course delivery
