The World Languages and Cultures Department is seeking applications
for a visiting Assistant Professor in Italian/Casa Italiana
Director beginning Mid-August 2022, MA required, PhD preferred. The
department seeks candidates committed to teaching and inclusive
excellence at a comprehensive institution that supports both
liberal arts curricula and professional programs. As outlined in
our Diversity Statement, applicants who will contribute to the

The applicant will have a demonstrable record of teaching
excellence in language courses as well as in literature courses.
Near-native fluency in Italian is required. Review of the
applications will begin early January and will continue until the
position is filled.
A complete application will consist of:
-Cover letter discussing the applicants research interest and
teaching experience, including methods for incorporating issues
related to diversity inclusion, and equity in classroom.
-A curriculum vitae.
-The names and contact information for three recommendations.
-A syllabus from a recent language and literature courses.
Director of Casa Italiana:
The Casa Italiana advances and extends to the Nazareth and broader
Rochester community the academic study of the Italian language and
the literatures and cultures of the Italian-speaking world. It
fosters a mutually beneficial relationship between Rochester’s
Italian-America community and Nazareth College.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Plan and implement events that enhance the study of the Italian
language and the literatures and cultures of the Italian-speaking
world for students in the WLC program with both academic
leadership and community volunteers.
-Publicize the Casa Italiana and its activities to the Nazareth and
the local and regional communities.
-Coordinate visits of artists, dancers, writers, etc. from
Italy.
-Work to integrate the Casa’s cultural program with the relevant
academic program across campus.
-Foster effective communication I a manner that supports the goals
and mission of the casa and the WLC programs in the
Italian language and the literatures and cultures of the
Italian-speaking world.
-Prepare and monitor the annual budget.
-Work closely with the Italian-American associations in the local
community to foster communication and sharing of resources.
- In conjunction with the Development Office, coordinate an annual
appeal and maintain relationships with major donors for purposes of
soliciting contributions to endowment or scholarship funds.
MA required, PhD preferred.
