While actively participating in an apprenticeship program, assists in repairing, maintaining and troubleshooting elevators, dub waiters and lifts in university owned buildings. Job Duties
- Under supervision, assists elevator mechanics in maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting problems with elevators, dumb waiters and lifts in university owned buildings.
- Assists in preventative maintenance and inspection of elevators, escalators, lifts and related components.
- Responds to call-back/trouble calls in a timely manner and restores equipment to a safe operating condition.
- Applies skills and knowledge learned in the apprenticeship program to learn and develop diagnostic troubleshooting ability; operates tools and equipment common to the elevator trade such as: voltammeter, amp probe, meggars, tachometer, rotation meter, soldering iron, solid state logic probes, lap top troubleshooting computer and numerous power and hand tools.
- Maintains machine rooms, elevator pits and elevator car tops in a neat and clean condition, which includes periodic painting.
- Assists with repairing and maintaining elevators, lifts and escalators.
- Assists in maintaining equipment inventory as needed
- May be assigned to special task force during periods of emergency, such as floods, storms, hurricanes, etc.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :
High school and 6 months experience
Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED. Requires a minimum of six (6) months of directly job-related experience.
