Research Assistant Professor-Agricultural and Development Economics

The Daniel J. Evans School of Public Policy & Governance, at the University of Washington, invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor, with anticipated start date of September 2022. This is a full-time non-tenure track Research Assistant Professor position with a twelve -month service period. The initial three-year appointment is renewable contingent upon performance and funding. (100% FTE, 12-month service period, UW Job Class Code: 10143).

This position will perform research in applied microeconomics focused on sub-Saharan small scale producer agriculture, development, and agricultural statistics through use of household level surveys, including the LSMS-ISA, and spatial and novel data. This position may also explore the intersection of the above topics with climate, gender, and inclusion. Our School values diversity, rigor, and innovative approaches to research and practice.

This is a research appointment that also involves providing analytical services to funders. The position will involve engaging external stakeholders in the broader international development community, helping to build out a new UW Center on Risk and Inclusion in Food Systems (CRIFS), providing data and analytic service under the Evans School Policy Analysis and Research group (EPAR), and leading a new evidence-based decision-making teaching program for emerging sub-Saharan African leaders. Successful applicants will be expected to seek and secure additional grant funding. This position is not expected to have regular classroom teaching obligations but may include the opportunity to teach graduate or undergraduate level courses at the Evans School, with such opportunities being contingent on the needs of the school, appropriate budgetary resources, and project workload.

MINIMUM: A PhD or foreign equivalent in a relevant field.

Demonstrated expertise with complex household level surveys, including the LSMS-ISA, and working with spatial and novel data.
