Position Summary:

The Administrative Services Assistant is responsible for a wide range of procurement, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cashiering, and administrative services at a Community College.

Incumbents must possess a proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Management or an appropriately related field; or a combination of education, training, and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
  • Knowledge of the Banner Financial Accounting System.
  • Experience in Business Office operations including Procurement.
  • Experience with Cashier’s/Bursar’s Office and accounts receivable functions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Financial, Student, or Human Resources databases, such as Peoplesoft, etc.
  • Experience with Billing, and Collections.
  • Experience with Customer Service.
Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Director of Finance and Administrative Services, the Administrative Services Assistant is accountable for the effective performance in these essential functional areas:
  • Procurement and Accounts Payable.
  • Accounts Receivable and cashiering
  • Scheduling events and facilities
  • Inventory/Asset management
  • Payroll processing and labor contracts.
The position is required to have extensive cooperative and collaborative relationships with faculty, students, staff, the public, and with professionals in peer organizations and professional associations. The incumbent is expected to collaborate with academic and student services departments to contribute to the retention of students. The incumbent is expected to represent the College in a positive manner.

Starting Salary:

$46,104 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. Salary Range for this level is $46,104-$83,696.
