VetHERO Center Administrative Assistant Job Description
Position Title: Administrative Assistant I
Job Summary: This position will help support the operations of the UCO VetHERO Center (comprised of the TRIO Student Support Services Veterans program and the TRIO Veterans Upward Bound program) and to provide administrative support to the TRIO Educational Opportunity Centers program.
Job Duties: Performs work under general supervision of the Director of Pre-College Adult TRIO Programs. May assist with the supervision of student employees and provide overall support for the VHC Center and building operations.
- Performs word processing and data entry
- Assist with creating and maintaining file system and department purchasing records.
- Prepares reports and presentation materials and makes copies
- Receives and responds to correspondence, answers, and directs telephone calls, and may manage department email inbox
- Receives and distribute mail and packages
- Maintains the front reception and welcome area, create service tickets
- Receives and directs visitors to appropriate staff and/or program or office
- Sets up for meetings and events, books appointments, manages calendars and VHC conference room
- Attend required trainings and events supporting federal program objectives and services
- Attend TRIO Workshops and other UCO Related Programming, as needed
- Work evening/weekends; as needed
Calls for interviews for selected candidates will begin 01/31/2022.
Anticipated Start Date is 02/28/2022.
This is a part time position working up to 20 hours a week between 8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday, and occasional evenings or weekends.

Qualifications
Required:
Requires general education or vocational training or equivalent combination of education and experience. General understanding and use of office equipment. Strong organizational and time management skills. Must be open to diverse and veteran cultures, practices, and orientations and display sensitivity to controversial topics.
Preferred:
TRIO background and military connected with a minimum of one-year experience in an office setting and/or office management, policies, and procedures. Experience in a Higher Education environment. Detail oriented, dependable, and thorough, and have sensitivity to intercultural communication, and good interpersonal skills.
