Professor of Practice Respiratory Care, Director of Respiratory Care Program

Utica University, a comprehensive, independent, private institution in Upstate New York, is seeking applications for an Assistant/Associate non-tenure eligible (NTE) professor to serve as an inaugural Respiratory Care (RC) Program Director. The program will be offered at the associate degree (A.S.) and Bachelor degree (B.S.) levels of education.

The RC program at Utica University is aspiring to fulfill the needs of the healthcare community by preparing and graduating qualified respiratory therapists who will appropriately serve their patients. 


The Program Director (PD) will be responsible for all aspects of the program, both administrative and educational. Administrative aspects include fiscal planning, continuous review and analysis, planning and development, and the overall effectiveness of the program. Educational responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching, curriculum development and review. Similarly, the director will ensure that the program serves our mission and meets all accreditation standards of the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).

As per CoARC requirements, program directors must successfully undertake the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program. Applicants who have not successfully taken this training must successfully undergo the training before completing the hiring process

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

1.     Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution required, 2.     Valid RRT credential, 3.     Current Florida state license, 4.     Four years of experience as an RRT with at least two years in clinical respiratory care, and,  5.     Two years of academic experience teaching in an accredited Respiratory Care Program, either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor. 

Preferred Qualifications:

1.     Master’s degree from an accredited academic institution 2.     Hold a CoARC Key Personnel Training Program certificate of completion, 3.     Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an RRT or physician (MD or DO) of which 4.     Four (4) years of experience in clinical respiratory care, pulmonary medicine, cardiothoracic surgery, critical care OR anesthesiology, and,  5.     Four (4) years teaching experience in clinical respiratory care, research, management, or education associated with an accredited respiratory care program.
