Job Summary:

Provide leadership and support for the faculty, academic and university staff. Participate in the department's management team in strategic planning and ongoing operations, including department's budget, clinic oversight, research program administration, program oversight, marketing and website oversight, supervision of staff, and human resource activities. Serve and perform responsibilities in the Director's absence.

Areas of the management team responsibility include financial/department operations. Under the direction of the Department Chair and Director, assist with and develop a thorough knowledge of all parts of Department fiscal management for participating in the preparation and negotiation of the Department budget and subsequent implementation of program activities and initiatives. Participate with the Department Chair, Vice Chair, executive faculty, and Director in preparing program and department requests and coordinate the assembly and implementation of the annual budget, integrating UW Medical Foundation and University revenues and expenses. Work with the Director, accountant and UWMF fiscal personnel in implementing year-end closing.

Assist in research program administration, along with the Director, serve as financial/administrative interface with faculty and campus administration, federal and private organizations.

Participate in clinical oversight, in coordination with the director and clinic/practice managers to achieve optimal patient and physician satisfaction. Coordinate with clinic managers to achieve and maintain outstanding patient services and clinical teaching environments. Participate in clinical outreach programs.

Participate with Public Affairs to develop strategies for marketing and communications. Assist with multi-media projects to promote faculty and programs for the Department. Work with staff to ensure all policies and regulations are being followed for marketing material.

Provide leadership, direction, and supervision of academic and university staff and maintain outstanding support for faculty and administration. Assist in policy development and ensure implementation of policies and procedures. Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and implement training of policies and procedures of UW, UW Health, and Department.

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
Preference will be given to candidates with degrees in Health Services Administration, Public Administration, Public Health, Accounting, Business, Business Administration, or significant related experience.

Qualifications:

Experience with a record of significant accomplishments in managing complex organizations, departments, or programs, preferably in an academic medical center. A demonstrated understanding and recognition of the academic medical center's multiple missions of teaching, research, clinical service and community service is required.

Preference will be given to candidates with a financial background, with previous experience in an academic medical setting. Previous fiscal management for the University of Wisconsin (UW) and University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation (UWMF) is preferred.

The position entails a high level of complexity in day-to-day operations, and requires a high level of initiative, creativity, and personal responsibility. Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with faculty, staff, and students; demonstrated abilities in policy development and budgetary/finance skills; excellent organizational skills and experience managing staff.

Experience and demonstrated ability with finance/budgeting, clinical revenue generation, human resources, grants administration, IT, marketing/communications, faculty and staff development, and facilities and management.

Proven ability to work well under pressure, prioritize workload effectively and delegate responsibility as appropriate.
