Job Summary:

The Department of Neurological Surgery has an exciting opportunity for an innovative, collaborative, service-oriented, and strategic individual to join our productive administration team! We are searching for a Medical Program Assistant to support our some of our faculty. This position coordinates complex daily activities of the department and assists the Chair, faculty, and staff in the successful performance of their teaching, research, service, clinical outreach, and administrative duties. This position will also help schedule surgeries for our grateful patients.

This position requires a person with excellent administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as considerable independence in planning, composing, and implementation on behalf of the department.

Qualifications:

Experience Required:
At least one year of experience in:
-Providing administrative support including scheduling and calendar management
-Professional level use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Knowledge/Skills Required:
-Excellent interpersonal, human relations, verbal and written communication skills. Courteous, responsive and service oriented.
-Ability to work cooperatively to coordinate multiple projects and demonstrate independent decision-making.
-Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information
-Outstanding organizational skills.

Knowledge/Skills Preferred:
-Knowledge of and experience with UW Health and School of Medicine and Public Health policies and procedures.
-Knowledge of HIPPA requirements, ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion.
-Intermediate transcription skills.
-Experience with surgery scheduling in Epic (preferred) or other surgery scheduling software.

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
