The Department of Instruction & Curriculum Leadership (ICL)
seeks to add a collaborative and innovative colleague for a
full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank
of Clinical Assistant Professor in Elementary Education at the
Lambuth Campus in Jackson, TN. The applicant’s teaching practice
should demonstrate commitment to and experience with (1) elementary
education methods, (2) teacher education preparation; (3)
diversity, social justice, and equity in order to promote effective
learning; (4) culturally relevant and sustaining practice; and (5)
comprehensive and sustained professional growth opportunities to
enhance professional practices involving diverse populations. The
desired candidate will have demonstrated commitments to the content
area of elementary education, scholarship in the field of
elementary education, and have experience in teacher education,
professional development, and field-based learning experiences. The
candidate should have desire, willingness, and commitment to
teaching and service at a large research-based institution that
integrates high leverage practices into their coursework and
professional development. The expected start date for this position
is August 1, 2022. Applicants will also be expected to demonstrate
a commitment to excellence in teaching and service.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• Earned doctorate degree obtained by August 1, 2022 in Elementary
Education or closely related field
• Evidence of excellence in teaching for a minimum of 3 years in an
elementary school setting
• Demonstrated commitment to cultural responsiveness, equity, and
inclusiveness, addressing the needs of a diverse student body
• Commitment to educational and cultural needs of diverse
populations
Desired
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with students,
faculty, and schools in diverse settings (urban, suburban, and
rural)
• Evidence of, or potential for, successful teacher candidate
supervision and related clinical experiences
• Commitment to facilitating positive change in teacher education
programs
• Knowledge of EdTPA and/or various teacher evaluation
systems
• Current Licensure in the Elementary Education or closely related
field
• Experience and evidence of excellence in teaching at the college
level
• Demonstrated teacher leadership and professional development and
field-based teacher preparation
• Demonstrated use of technology integration in teaching and
professional development
• Participation in collaborative school and community-based
initiatives and partnerships
• Expertise in using classroom assessments and student achievement
data to inform instruction
Responsibilities
• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate Elementary Education
field-based methods courses on or off-campus or online
• Supervise clinical residency and related field experiences
• Model technology integration in classroom experiences
• Collaborate with local school systems in the preparation of
teachers
• Attend department and program area meetings
• Professional service such as committee assignments and
community engagement
• Other duties as assigned by the department chairperson
SALARY & BEGINNING DATE
Salaries are competitive and commensurate with experience and
qualifications. This position is a 12-month non-tenure-track
appointment. The anticipated date of appointment is August 1, 2022.
The University offers an excellent benefits package, including
healthcare and retirement. The state of TN currently has no state
income tax, and the Jackson/Madison County area has a very
reasonable cost of living.

The University of Memphis Lambuth Campus is an extension of the
main campus located approximately 80 miles northeast of Memphis in
Jackson, Tennessee. UofM Lambuth is situated on a tranquil 57-acre
campus in the heart of the city. Students benefit from small class

in a close-knit community - with all the backing of a major
