Position Description:

Supervise an assigned group of children (between the ages of eighteen months to ten years of age) each day to insure that their physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs are met.

Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
Must be 18 years of age and possess a H.S. diploma or GED equivalent
Must have a valid Infant and Child First Aid card or obtain within 3 months of employment.
Must have a valid Common Childhood Communicable Disease card or obtain within 3 months of employment
Must have a valid Recognition and Prevention of Child Abuse card or obtain within 3 months of employment.
Shall not have any convictions of child abuse or crimes involving moral turpitude.
Must have a fingerprint check by the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII)
An Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or 60 semester hours of Early Childhood Education at the college level, or teaching experience working with young children in a child care setting required.
Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.



Working Conditions:

Caring for children can be physically demanding.. Child care staff must be able to stand, bend stoop, lift and carry young children. Must be able to sit comfortably on the floor or in child size furniture. Child care staff will be working in a busy and occasionally noisy environment. Caring for children can be stressful. There may be a number of situations happening at once, and child care staff must be prepared to handle accidents and emergencies at all times. Child care staff may come in contact with children who are ill and/or contagious and must take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all children, parents, staff and themselves. Child care staff must have a physical exam upon employment.
