The employment offer is conditional upon successful completion of a cotinine test and Occupational Health clearance. Position Description:

Patient Care Technician facilitates and assists in meeting the needs of the patient. These tasks are to be within the range of responsibilities that the Registered Nurse (RN) can rightfully delegate to an unlicensed patient care provider. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) follows the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Lead/Charge Nurse, the Nursing Director/ Assistant Nursing Director, as well as the House Supervisor.

Qualifications:

1. High School graduate or equivalent.

2. State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification with Ohio Department of Health is required at the time of application, OR Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification at the time of application, OR a graduate of an accredited nursing program.

3. Ability to plan and organize work and to work under supervision. Willingness to accept responsibility for patients in their care when performing delegated functions of this position and to perform delegated duties in accordance with established methods and procedures.

4. Required to maintain CPR certification/Basic Life Support.

5. Required to work some weekends and holidays.

6. May be required to rotate shifts and units and take call.

7. Ability to write legibly, speaks articulately, and follows directions accurately.

8. Ability to plan and organize work and to work under close supervision.

9. Willingness to accept responsibility for performing delegated functions of this position and to perform delegated duties in accordance with established methods and procedures.

10. Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations.

11. Ability to tolerate strenuous physical activity such as turning, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, and lifting. Must be able to move, lift, and/or carry materials and equipment weighing up to 10 lbs., 15% of the time; 20 lbs., 10% of the time; 50lbs., 2% of the time; and move materials weighing up to 100lbs., 1% of the time.



Working Conditions:

Working conditions include but are not limited to an environment of high stress where exposure to blood borne pathogens and other infectious agents, unpleasant odors, limited space, dust and fumes, variations in environmental temperature, hazardous chemicals, loud noise, radiation risk, laser exposure, physically demanding workloads, heavy lifting of at least 30 pounds but often more. Many repetitive activities and motions such as bending, standing and walking for extended periods of time are required. Some risk of verbal, physical and emotional aggression may be experienced.
