The employment offer is conditional upon successful completion of a cotinine test and Occupational Health clearance. Position Description:

The EEG Tech Assistant I is a skilled allied health professional who performs the diagnostic testing procedures of Electroencephalograms, in various forms, including routine, critical care and LTME (Long Term Monitoring for Epilepsy). EEG is used to measure and record the electrical activity of the brain.

Applies practical knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the central and peripheral nervous system is required to provide care appropriate to the patients receiving an EEG test. The EEG Tech Assistant I must demonstrate clinical application, age appropriate and population specific care and theoretical knowledge consistent with the current literature and accepted practice of the profession dictated by the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) or American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET).

The Technologist must demonstrate knowledge of basic principles of growth and development over the life span.

Qualifications:

Education / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

1. Certified in American Heart Association Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation BLS. Will accept at time of new hire only American Red Cross BLS.
2. Associates degree in an Allied Health field required. May consider Associates degree with relevant paid work experience in lieu of degree in an Allied Health field. May consider four years related, paid relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
3. Must pass *ABRET Part I within 18 months of hire for Full-Time employees.
4. Must pass *ABRET Part II within 6 months of passing ABRET Part I.
5. EEG Technologist credentialing within 24 months of hire for F/T employees is required. Exceptions may be considered at the request of the union, management and the medical director



Working Conditions:

The primary work environment is in the acute care and rehab hospitals of UTMC, performing the activities, both routine and critical care, that are consistent with the professional practice of the Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist. There may be exposure to hazardous or infectious materials or waste.
