Position Description

The University of Toledo Department of English Language and Literature invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Creative Writing.

Duties will include teaching undergraduate courses in creative writing, other English courses, and general education courses.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

T he search committee will begin reviewing applications on Monday, October 18th, 2021 and will conduct initial interviews online; finalists will be brought to campus.

Qualifications:

Candidates must apply with t hree letters of recommendation to EnglishDept@utoledo.edu with a letter of application addressed to Search Committee Chair Benjamin Stroud, a CV, and a writing sample of 30 pages maximum.

Three letters of recommendation must be submitted to EnglishDept@utoledo.edu.

The candidate must have a record of publishing in creative writing, demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, and will have earned a terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in Creative Writing by the time of the appointment.

Preferred candidates will have expertise in at least two genres of creative writing, including but not limited to fiction, poetry, or creative nonfiction.

Further preferred qualifications include experience mentoring first generation and underrepresented minority college students.
