Reporting to the Program Director, the Associate Director of Clinical Education is primarily responsible for the coordination of activities related to the clinical phase of the program. The associate director serves as both principal faculty and administrator for the clinical educational experiences for the second-year students. Position is a twelve (12) month, full-time position.

Specific responsibilities:
  • Develop and coordinate the clinical year courses and master rotation schedule.
  • Assign students to clinical placements.
  • Develop and revise program clinical policies and preceptor manuals annually.
  • Develop, revise, and evaluate learning objectives and evaluation tools related to clinical clerkship courses.
  • Evaluate student mastery of rotational objectives and professional development in clinical courses and remediate as needed.
  • Develop, review, and evaluate clinical experiences for educational suitability with the program director and medical director.
  • Periodically evaluate clinical affiliates and preceptors through site visits.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical affiliate staff, coordinators, students and preceptors.
  • Monitor student and preceptor feedback and respond to the needs of the program and clinical affiliates.
  • Provide clinical preceptor training to ensure instructional needs and learning outcomes for the clinical courses are met.
  • Maintain clinical files, current affiliation agreements, licensure and certification information of preceptors.
  • Ensure all grades, assignments, evaluations and Typhon logging requirements are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Collect and analyze clinical student, clinical course and preceptor evaluation data.
  • Coordinate Call Back days at the end of each 6-week rotation.
  • Implement and maintain the clinical curriculum in accordance with ARC-PA Standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the Clinical Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator of Clinical and Didactic Education to ensure all responsibilities of the clinical team are met.
  • Coordinate, teach, and/or evaluate instruction in the didactic phase as assigned by the director.
  • Serve on program admissions, curriculum, assessment and other program committees.
  • Serve on UBHS and University committees as assigned by program director.
  • Engage in scholarly and community service activity.
  • Such other responsibilities as may be assigned by Program Director.
Skills Required:
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other PAI team members and College of Health Science programs.
  • Ability to adapt to changing assignments and priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Superior organizational skills.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or higher relevant to graduate medical education required, doctoral degree preferred.
  • PA candidates preferred and must be certified by the NCCPA and hold current certification.
  • Three (3) or more years administrative and/or teaching experience in a university, hospital or PA educational setting preferred.
  • Candidates with experience with PA clinical education preferred.
  • MD, DO and other healthcare practitioners with current certification and licensure will be considered based on experience.
  • Experience with accreditation, research and data analysis preferred.
  • Training or previous experience with Typhon clinical systems preferred.
Regional travel is required to ensure quality clinical sites and maintenance.
