Position Summary

A Testing & Accessibility Project Specialist reports to the Assistant Director of Testing & Accessibility or other Department Administrator. The Project Specialist also performs the duties of Access Specialist and Proctor inclusive of processing and administering academic assessments and supporting the alternate media team. The Project Specialist provides clerical and customer service support inclusive of assisting in documenting departmental procedures and training manuals. The incumbent is willing to working with diverse student populations while remaining consistent and unbiased in the delivery of services. This individual will be dedicated to creating a positive, equitable, and inclusive experience for all students during their time at the college. Building and maintaining positive relationships with students, instructors, and community members is an essential component of this role.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Testing and Accessibility Service Delivery

Provides professional test proctoring services and alternate media related accommodation assistance for students -- both in-person and in the virtual environment. Administer and monitor academic, placement, and specialized tests within the guidelines provided by instructors and external certification providers. Follows standard testing protocol by ensuring assessment integrity,
distributing appropriate support materials, assisting students with accommodations, troubleshooting technology errors, and providing basic clerical support, in accordance with the College policies and procedures.

In addition to testing services, this position may provide individual assistive support to students, technology services and support, assist in creating various testing materials in a variety of formats and providing training on alternative media to the campus community. Assists in the delivery of specialized services (Out of Region, Exception-Based Testing) utilized by students enrolled in
distance learning courses. Collaborate with various campus and community stakeholders to ensure appropriate service delivery (IT, DEIS, Bookstore, etc.).

Clerical

Accurately record the receipt and distribution of tests. Responsible for reporting and tracking students served through the Department of Testing & Accessibility. Record any incidents of academic misconduct via an incident report and obtains proper signatures as required. Submits incident reports to vendors and documents any testing issues, reporting these issues to leadership
as needed/directed. Report any issues with assistive technology software and hardware or general software programs to the Testing & Accessibility administrative staff.

Assists in the creation, documentation, and maintenance of departmental procedures and training manuals and reviewing departmental reporting.

Customer Service

Deliver excellent customer service and provide students, faculty, adjuncts, and staff with a secure, comfortable and accessible environment -- both in-person and in the virtual environment. Keep distractions to a minimum during testing appointments. Must be aware and able to conform to the proper etiquette for interacting with individuals with a disability. Answer student, faculty, adjunct, and staff inquiries and make referrals to other campus resources as appropriate.

Professional Development, Standards, & Credentials

Attend Department of Testing & Accessibility staff meetings and scheduled training sessions. Attend professional development trainings/workshops.

Maintains credentials & any annual training/recertification necessary to administer a minimum of one (1) certification examination.

Ensures a safe and supportive learning environment by complying with the Dept. of Testing & Accessibility’s Testing Center procedures, Columbus State’s Academic and Student Code of Conduct policies, National College Testing Association standards, and the college’s security procedures.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

Attends all required department meetings and trainings.
Maintains confidentiality of exams, test results, and student information in accordance to Higher Education FERPA, NCTA, and vendors’ standards, policies, and guidelines.
Hours may include working outside of a normal workweek schedule as well as weekend availability on an as needed basis. This individual may work overtime or offset hours as necessary and may need to work additional evenings/weekends on a regular basis to provide service to students.

Employee occasionally lifts up to 10 pounds

Working Conditions: Typical office environment. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to business offices.

Knowledge of: Business related software, including Microsoft Office applications (Work, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Testing related computer software, programs, and applications; test administration procedures; standard office procedures and practices; office administration; FERPA.

Minimum Qualification:

Associate's degree required. Employee typically gains the necessary level of expertise by demonstrating job
competency acquired through on-the-job training, development, and experience with Columbus State.

State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
