Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students, the Program Coordinator for the Violence Prevention Programs will be responsible for risk reduction, violence prevention and university compliance of violence prevention educational programs as required through the Violence Against Women (VAWA) federal regulations. The Coordinator will coordinate, plan, and administer domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking prevention programs. Education initiatives will be developed for faculty, staff and students. This position will work with the Associate Dean to complete student-based Title XI investigations and resolutions. They will also develop and advise student bystander intervention programs that empower individual action and encourage peer accountability. The Coordinator will also seek grant funding and will supervise grant funded programs. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with law enforcement personnel, student affairs staff, and community partners like Alternative to Violence of the Palouse. This position will also be a member of the Dean of Students Office staff and participate in other student affairs projects and programs. They will focus on comprehensive, socio-culturally relevant, and in-depth sexual violence programming that engages the University of Idaho community in varied teaching methods, multiple strategies, and in-depth approaches that seek to create lasting change for individuals, groups, communities, and society. The Coordinator will be prepared to encounter disclosures of sexual assault and relationship violence and will direct individuals who disclose sexual assault related experiences to the appropriate campus of community resource. The Coordinator will provide individual care and concern for students who experience sexual misconduct and other unwanted behaviors.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Health Promotions, Social Work, Psychology, Education or related field At least one year of related work experience in program facilitation, teaching, health promotion, social work or related field.

Experience with federal laws related to violence prevention work including familiarity with legislation and regulatory compliance related to sexual harassment and violence, including knowledge of Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972, the federal Violence Against Women Act, Campus SaVE, the Cleary Act, etc. and their application to campus environments.

Experience with database management and research using database software and reports.

Experience designing and conducting large scale training programs and implementing, facilitating and evaluating pre-designed training modules.

Experience developing technical written materials such as policies, technical manuals or rules/regulations; providing technical program assistance to staff; gathering, assembling, correlating, and analyzing facts; devising solutions to problems; writing concise reports, and developing and evaluating policies and procedures.

Experience in public health education and promotion to a diverse constituent group.

Experience providing health and wellness support of teens and emerging adults and/or college students.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Education, Social Work or related field.

Knowledge of law enforcement criminal justice investigation methods and functions.

Knowledge of or experience with local and state laws related to violence prevention work and sexual violence.

Experience in crisis intervention, sexual assault, trauma and victimization; staff development and supervisory practices.

Professional communication and public speaking skills.

Knowledge and creative experience with peer education models, teaching, marketing, public speaking, and program design and evaluation, etc.

Previous experience advising student organizations/peer education groups

Supervising/coordinating volunteers, interns, and/or peer educators

Engagement and passion for working in a multi-level socio-ecological framework to violence prevention.

Ability and willingness to assess need, plan, coordinate, oversee, and evaluate projects and programs on a variety of health and wellness topics.

Good judgment & discretion when understanding privacy and confidentiality parameters of sensitive health and educational information.

Project management and assessment, including proficiency with statistical analysis programs
Engaging diverse collegiate student populations, community organizing, etc.
