Primary Responsibilities:
The Department of Mass Media invites applications for a full-time Instructor of Broadcast and Digital Video beginning Fall 2022. Successful candidates will have experience in video pre-production, production, and post-production for broadcast, streaming and online platforms. The candidate will teach a load equivalent to 12-credit hours per semester in courses related to legacy media forms such as corporate, documentary and narrative production, as well as digital applications such as mobile, interactive, and online storytelling. The candidate also will teach courses related to broadcast journalism, digital media production and social media storytelling. The candidate also will receive a 3-credit hour release each semester to supervise student programming for SE-TV, the experiential learning component for TV/Film majors. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student mentoring, participation in recruitment and retention activities, and department, college and university service.
The Department of Mass Media is a part of the Holland College of Arts and Media and one of only two Missouri programs accredited by the Accrediting Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in mass communications or related field (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university)
- Demonstrated recent experience in studio, live, remote, and digital video production
- Demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Suite
- Ability to teach courses in television directing (with emphasis on studio and control room technology), corporate video production, basic video and film production and video post-production, and broadcast journalism
- Demonstrated understanding of digital media content production and distribution channels
- Demonstrated experience incorporating inclusion and diversity in teaching and/or professional/creative works
- Ability to teach courses in the core curriculum, such as Media Production, Media Analytics and Media History
- Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities.
