COVID-19 vaccinations are now required for all Oakland University students, faculty and staff.
We seek applicants with research and teaching interest relevant to material fastening and joining, including but not limited to static and dynamic analysis, modeling, simulation, design, and validation of advanced material joining processes, which are the focus of our Fastening and Joining Research Institute (FAJRI) and the recently awarded NSF IUCRC center for Composite and Hybrid Materials Interfacing (CHMI). Successful candidates are expected to recruit and sustain NSF-mandated membership on the CHMI center's Industrial Advisory Board (IAB), grow the existing material joining programs, and develop new externally funded and research programs that include both fundamental and applied research. Additionally, successful candidates are expected to recruit and supervise MS and Ph.D. students, teach courses, and expand material joining curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. An earned doctorate in Materials/Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required, along with evidence of recent accomplishments that indicate strong potential for success and leadership in research, teaching, and service. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion.An earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or a related program.
