About the Institute for Digital InnovAtion (IDIA): 

IDIA aims to engage researchers, innovators, and scholars of the Mason community with other organizations and businesses to shape our digital society’s future while promoting equality, well-being, security, and prosperity. IDIA works with a community of several hundred faculty members from various technical and non-technical backgrounds. While the focus is on building strong external partnerships with GovCon, private sector, schools, and colleges to amplify Mason’s research impact, we offer opportunities such as roundtables and seed funding for multidisciplinary ideation. The IDIA advisory committee is comprised of representatives from all colleges and schools at Mason. IDIA will be headquartered at the Arlington campus.

 

Three main thrusts of IDIA 

  • Technologies: Inventing new algorithms, digital techniques, and technologies;
  • Systems: Developing and deploying computing systems to advance fields as diverse as finance, education, built infrastructure, science, economics, agriculture, health, transportation, entertainment, national security, and social justice; and
  • Digital Society: Engaging in critical reflection that examines the implications of digital innovation to ensure that innovators are sensitive to designing and innovating responsibly and that key stakeholders – including users, innovators, policy-makers, and the public at large – are informed about technology’s social, ethical, political, and economic impacts.

 

About the Position:

Reporting to IDIA’s Project Manager, the Digital Content Developer will work on drafting communications, managing the social media content, designing flyers, managing IDIA newsletter, and video editing.

 

The Digital Content Developer will report to IDIA’s Project Manager and will primarily manage digital assets of IDIA. These projects are the core of the institute as they enable Mason faculty and students to collaborate externally, enhancing the University’s research and scholarship portfolio.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Digital Media and Initiatives Related to IDIA
  • Work with the IDIA team to ensure accuracy, coordination, and prioritization of projects;
  • Manage and execute projects as assigned;
  • Identify and use appropriate graphical and video editing tools;
  • Regularly report project status;
  • Work on multiple projects at the same time;
  • Convene meetings as needed to gather requirements for projects;
  • Evaluate data and prepare reports as required on various topics; and
  • Manage timeliness of all assigned projects, ensuring quality deliverables and stakeholder satisfaction.

 

Manage IDIA Communications Channels

  • Create content for the website, landing pages, digital marketing, and other communications channels;
  • Manage the content of the IDIA website, weekly newsletters, quarterly magazines, annual reports, and social media channels;
  • Work with the graphic designer to ensure the accuracy of the information and the quality of design; and
  • Provide analysis of web and social media content performance by generating bi-weekly and monthly reports.

 

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Track and record Key Performance Indicators (KPI) metrics on a weekly quarterly, and annual basis; and
  • Track the social media metrics and apply techniques to improve them.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience, in a discipline relevant to fine arts, digital media, or marketing;
  • Experience working on various digital content formats in a large dispersed university environment;
  • Knowledge of website platforms such as WordPress, multimedia, graphic design, video editing, and broad knowledge of computing disciplines;
  • Must have strong, demonstrated writing skills and the ability to proofread and edit content;
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, with the proven ability to independently juggle multiple tasks and priorities effectively;
  • Must be flexible, well-organized, inquisitive, resourceful, detail-oriented, creative, and ethical;
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a diverse and collaborative environment;
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with diverse faculty, staff, and administrators across multiple disciplines and administrative offices; and
  • Ability to work well with co-workers.
