Job Summary
Serving as a key member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Psychiatrist provides psychiatric services to eligible students.

Responsibilities
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
  • Perform psychiatric evaluations, clinical assessments, crisis intervention and prescribes medication and other appropriate therapeutic interventions when indicated
  • Provide consultation, collaboration, and training to the clinical staff
  • Support Counseling Center's & Health Service's missions for providing effective and high quality mental and behavioral health services on the GSU campuses
  • Work as an integral member of the interdisciplinary treatment team

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited medical school and completion of an accredited residency in psychiatry

Other Required Qualifications
  • Unrestricted license or eligible for unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia
  • Unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license or immediately eligible
  • Board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology

Required Experience
  • Experience in DSM-5 based diagnosis and assessment

Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in the psychiatric evaluation and treatment of adolescents and young adult students with emphasis on psychopharmacology, differential diagnosis, and psychiatrically complex presentations

Preferred Experience
  • Two years post residency experience in a university counseling center multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in teaching or training of non-psychiatry mental health staff

Commensurate with Experience

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Medicat or similar electronic medical record software
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to the medical field and psychiatry
  • Knowledge of applicable professional ethics and standards

SKILLS
