Job Summary:
Furman University seeks applicants for Artist/Teacher of Violin at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track) to begin August 2022. Salary to be determined by the experience and qualifications of the candidate.

Job Description:

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate must have an earned doctorate in music or demonstrated professional equivalency at the time of appointment (minimum masters degree required). Evidence of excellence in college-level teaching, success in student recruiting, and a record of significant professional activity are strongly preferred.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work with historically underrepresented students, including students of color, and be committed to assisting the university in its continuing efforts to become a model of inclusive excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach applied violin and other related courses, as assigned. Recruit and maintain a quality studio of undergraduate students. The successful candidate will be an outstanding, active performer, and will be expected to perform regularly both on and off campus as a soloist and collaborator. Other responsibilities would be based on qualifications, skills, and departmental needs. We particularly welcome candidates who can contribute (through teaching, scholarship, mentoring, or service) to our department's commitment to increasing diversity, promoting inclusivity, and advancing equity.
