Appointment: This is a part-time (.75FTE), non-exempt, hourly position
Position Summary: The duty of a Catering Cook is to prepare a variety of food items for retail/board operation, catered events, special receptions, and other functions as requested by the Catering Sous Chef, Executive Chef, Director of Event and Catering Services, and Director of Dining and Cafes. The Catering Sous Chef will have primary day-to-day supervision of the position. The Executive Chef will ensure adequate staffing, scheduling, training, and timekeeping responsibilities are met.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Prepares a variety of food items for
retail/board operation, catered events, special receptions,
etc.
Garnishes and decorates food items
and/or service lines for eye-appealing presentation of food.
Cleans kitchen and food storage
areas, utensils, and equipment.
Maintains all aspects of proper
sanitation, health and safety standards for food storage, food
preparation, and kitchen safety.
Operates mixers, ovens, choppers,
shredders, steamers, grills, grinders, steam kettles, fry kettles
and other food preparation equipment.
Anticipates and performs preliminary
preparation necessary for meals the following day.
Properly labels and stores food in
refrigerators, freezers, and storerooms.
Works with and instructs student
staff in preparation, storage and handling of food items.
Performs other related duties as
assigned or requested by Executive Chef, Catering Sous Chef,
Director of Event and Catering Services, and Director of Dining and
Cafes.
Qualifications:

Valid driver's license
Valid Food Worker Card
Must be able to add, subtract,
multiply, and divide; read and write simple sentences in
conjunction with the adjustment of recipes
Ability to pass pre-employment
background inquiry, physical exam, drug screening, and strength
test
Must be able to work independently
and in a team setting
Must be flexible and able to perform
multiple tasks and work in strenuous situations
Ability to respectfully work,
communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus
community
Education/Experience
2 years' experience and high school diploma or equivalent. A combination of education, experience and training may be considered.
Language Skills
Must be able to speak clearly, listen attentively, read, write, and understand English

Compensation and Benefits: Up to $16.58/hr DOE. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
