Job Description or Duties

The Department of Social Work at the University of Nebraska at Kearney invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The Social Work program is committed to undergraduate teaching and research, community engagement, and meaningful faculty-student interactions. The BSW degree is offered in both on-campus and fully online formats and the department currently serves over 200 social work students with nine full-time faculty positions. Candidates whose research and/or practice interests will expand the diversity and range of expertise in the department are highly desirable, as are those with experience teaching diverse student populations, including first-generation, non-traditional, and veteran students.  Primary responsibilities include teaching three undergraduate courses per semester in both online and face-to-face formats, maintaining an active research agenda and scholarly productivity, attaining graduate faculty status, participating in recruitment and advisement of students, serving on departmental and university committees, promoting program development, contributing to assessment efforts, and advising student organizations.

 

Required Qualifications:

 An earned doctorate in Social Work or related field, a Master of Social Work from a CSWE accredited institution, and a minimum of two years post-MSW experience. Advanced ABD may be considered.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching diverse student populations in varied formats (online, face-to-face, blended), demonstrated commitment to research and publications, effective communication and collaboration skills, and Spanish-language fluency. For appointment at the Associate Professor rank, a record of publications and demonstrated potential for leadership is expected.
