Summary:

The Director of Volleyball Operations assists the Head Coach in the administration of all aspects of the Volleyball program, including coordinating team travel and meals, managing the budget and equipment, community outreach, practice scheduling, compiling practice and competition statistics, and compliance with NCAA, Conference and University regulations. Reporting to Head Volleyball Coach, the Director of Volleyball Operations works to further VCU Athletics' mission to win conference and national championships, provide a first-class student-athlete experience, serve as a source of pride for the University and community, and cultivate graduates who excel as leaders.

Typical Duties

Responsible for all travel itineraries and arrangements for all team, staff, and recruits.
Coordinate all pre/post-match meals.
Provide administrative assistance to volleyball coaching staff.
Assist and maintain the organization of camps and clinics through Jody Rogers Volleyball Camps.
Assist in budget maintenance including organizing team and staff travel, tracking travel and recruiting receipts once trip has occurred, securing travel advances and clearing procurement expenses.
Schedule practices for both home and away matches, practice times, walk throughs, and departures and arrivals to institutions.
Coordinate community service activities for the team with assistants.
Work with marketing to develop and implement game day promotions for the volleyball program.
Responsible for all equipment ordering, maintenance, and budget formulation in coordination with the Head Coach.
Perform any additional duties as directed by the Head Coach.

Typical Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree or training and work experience at a level that equates to an bachelor's degree;
  • Experience working within an NCAA Division l level program or 2 years of professional business experience;
  • Experience with Data Project/Volley; and
  • Demonstrated experience working in an fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred hiring standards:
  • Two (2) years experience working in an NCAA Divison l program;
  • Previous playing experience in the sport of Volleyball; and
  • An advanced degree or training and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree.
Typical Licensure
  • Valid driver's license;
  • First Aid, CPR and AED certifications or achieve certifications within 30 days of hire.
