Job Description:

Fairfield College Preparatory School is an all-boys Jesuit, Catholic high school of excellence located on the campus of Fairfield University for students in ninth through twelfth grade.

Fairfield Prep is currently seeking qualified candidates for a full time position in the Technology Department as a Technology Support Specialist. The Specialist will provide tier 2 technical support to faculty/staff and students and work with the Fairfield University IT Team in support of IT Security, Network Infrastructure, and Data Center Technologies.

Additionally, the Specialist will:
  • Project Management: The Specialist will execute all aspects of assigned projects as directed by the Director including determining its scope, developing procedures and documentation, implementation, training and maintenance.

  • Systems Management: The Specialist will aid in installing, maintaining and setup of software and hardware systems as required on all computers including servers and cloud-based/hosted systems.

  • Help Desk / Desktop Support: The Specialist would be part of the team used to troubleshoot and resolve technology-based problems. Additionally documentation, as required, would be created and stored in the Help Desk system. This position will provide desk-side support to faculty/staff when needed.

  • Account Management: The Specialist is responsible for: assisting the Database Manager in maintaining and securing user accounts on Prep Systems.

  • Inventory/Device Management: The Specialist will control the distribution, storage and inventory of all Prep software programs including their licensing. He/She will be the primary Specialist of the Jamf Management System.

  • Audio/Visual : The Specialist will provide setup/breakdown and support for school sponsored events that may require speakers, microphones, projectors and video cameras. Events may also need Live streaming support.

  • Professional Development: The Specialist will be kept current of computer technology and future trends. This may involve attending workshops, classes and/or conferences.

  • Budget: The Specialist will aid the Director as requested in determining the technology needs of Fairfield Prep. He/she may also be involved in determining and evaluating vendors, services and products.

  • Training: The Specialist, along with the Help Desk Coordinator will provide individual training appointments as well as formal workshops as requested by the Director and also aid in maintaining the Service/Help Desk ticketing system.

The Technology Support Specialist position is a full-time position that reports to the University Infrastructure Director in support of the Fairfield Prep enterprise.

Qualifications for Position:
  • Associate Degree in related field required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Understanding of Apple products and experience with JAMF MDM Software

  • Understanding of Microsoft Windows 10 and above, Microsoft Server 2016 and above

  • Experience with Microsoft WSUS, and SCCM Software Preferred

  • A+ Certification or equivalent preferred

  • Familiarity with Cloud-Based infrastructure (Azure/AWS) Required.

  • Familiarity with current IT Security standards, procedures, software and appliances.

Pay Range: $60,000-$70,000.

Duties may be changed and/or be added at any time. Weekend, Nights, After Hours work may periodically be required.
