Position Function:

Teaching group piano, applied piano for music majors and minors, and piano pedagogy courses, as well as other courses as assigned.

Salary Grade : UC

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach applied piano for music majors and minors, group piano and piano pedagogy courses, as well as other courses as assigned.
• Coordinate the group piano classes, instructors and curriculum.
• Sustain a high-profile research/creative professional visibility through publications and regional, national, and/or international presentations and/or performance.
• Engage in recruitment by developing relationships with piano teachers and students in the area, state, and neighbor states.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and expand the keyboard area.
• Perform as a soloist and/or collaborative pianist with other colleagues in the department on local, regional concerts.
• Maintain an active membership in MTNA-MMTA-GTMF, and other keyboard pedagogy associations: NCKP and GP3.
• Propose and teach classes, as applicable, in a secondary area.
• Participate in university, college, and departmental committees, service and recruiting activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A completed doctorate in piano/piano pedagogy.
• Two or more years of college-level teaching experience with applied piano, group piano, and piano pedagogy courses.
• Successful recruiting experience.
• Commitment to working with a diverse student body.
• Presentations and publications on pedagogical topics.
• A secondary area of expertise is desirable such as jazz piano, music technology, harpsichord, or organ.
