Position Summary
The Graphic Designer works as part of the Alumni and Development Communications team, primarily serving the University of Oregon Alumni Association (UOAA). Reporting to the UOAA Communications Director, this position designs high-quality marketing and branding materials for the UOAA's programs. The designer will maintain visual identity and branding within UO and UOAA guidelines. The job requires thorough knowledge of publication and digital design and an understanding of the proper use of the English language.
Day to day work for the graphic designer will include: - Design on-brand, creative solutions for a variety of uses:
publications, brand campaigns, websites, email templates, social
media graphics, banners advertisements, videos, and
photography.
- Collaborate with UOAA units to deliver designs that are
creative, useful, and align with technical and brand standards.
Maintain visual identity and branding for UO, UOAA, and
unit-specific materials.
- Take ideas from concept to execution, working with project
managers, design colleagues, and content experts to deliver an
effective user experience.
- Use the latest software and applications to design and develop
digital solutions.
- Improve existing graphics and images for websites or videos.
Make design suggestions, provide updated images and implement
approved changes as instructed.
Minimum Requirements - 4+ Years of Graphic Design experience OR
- Associates Degree + 3 years of Graphic Design experience
OR
- Bachelors Degree + 2 years of Graphic Design experience
Degree may be in Graphic Design, Graphic Art, Fine Art, or closely related field.
Professional Competencies - Strong skills with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop,
Illustrator, and InDesign
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing,
including the ability to proofread
- Ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and collaborate with
colleagues to deliver high-quality designs
- Familiarity with both print and digital design, including
websites, social media, and video
- Ability to interact, communicate, and work effectively with
individuals, recognizing and respecting the many and varied
identities of each person
- Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and
inclusion
