    Department Summary
    The Office of the Provost (OtP) is responsible for carrying out the academic mission of the University of Oregon. In doing so, the office works closely with faculty and staff to enhance academic excellence, student success, and the UO's overall academic profile. OtP is a dynamic office that leads and manages a variety of initiatives, processes, and services. A major initiative being led by OtP is to boost student success by strengthening infrastructure and support for UO's online courses. Online education expands the University of Oregon's educational mission beyond campus, enlarging UO's reach and amplifying the university's reputation as a leader in research and teaching. Further, online education and the goals of this initiative align with the presidential priorities of access, student success, excellence, and experience.
    Position Summary
    In support of the academic mission of the University of Oregon and reporting to the UO Online Exam Manager, the LMS Faculty Support Manager will oversee front-line faculty support for effective use of UO's Learning Management System (LMS). This position will lead student employees who provide walk-in and phone support. The LMS Faculty Support Manager works closely with instructional designers, the UO Exam Manager, Information Services, and other stakeholders to promote quality standards, high-impact educational practices, and the effective use of technology for teaching and learning.
    Minimum Requirements
    This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems generally obtained through an AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.
    Professional Competencies
  • Proficiency with learning management systems.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
  • Organization skills; ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to stay abreast of higher education trends and technologies; monitor national conversations regarding best practice in assessment, federal regulations, and emerging technologies.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3 years of experience working with Canvas or a similar Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Experience working with faculty members, graduate employees, and students from diverse disciplines and cultures.
  • Experience working with TDNext or similar ticketing software.
