The successful candidate will be expected to lead an independent research program and supervise trainees in cognitive science at all levels, including undergraduate and graduate students.

The Department of Cognitive Science at UC San Diego boasts a broadly interdisciplinary faculty that has experienced substantial, rapid growth in recent years. The department places a strong emphasis on teaching and undergraduate education.

Cognitive Science faculty have research interests in a diverse set of phenomena, including affect, cognitive development, creativity, decision making, individual differences, executive function, gesture, language, learning and memory, math, music perception, vision, reasoning, and social interaction. We often combine multiple methodological and theoretical approaches, including behavioral neuroscience, comparative cognition, computational epigenomics, computational neuroscience, control theory, data science, electrophysiology, experimental psychology, eye tracking, field work, genomics, image processing, linguistic methodologies, machine learning, neuroimaging, and psychophysics.
