Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Catering Operations Director, this position provides management of on and off site catered events for Union South, while supporting Memorial Union and other Wisconsin Union and Campus buildings. Receptions range from 10 to 1500 guests, with ballrooms and multiple event spaces, with up to 800 patrons for a single banquet. Provide supervision of permanent staff and part time staff. Assist to develop food, wage and material costs for a budget of approximately $2 million.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
2 years in food service, hospitality or catering

Preferred Experience in training, supervising and overseeing employees as well as writing schedules and making adjustments needed based on business needs

License/Certification:

Required
Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards

Preferred
ServSafe Certification - Able to obtain within six months of hire.

Preferred
Valid Bartender License - Able to obtain within six months of hire.

Additional Information:

The Wisconsin Union operates two buildings on the UW-Madison campus. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by twenty-two food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $45 million dollars.

Leadership & Engagement is a theme area within Student Affairs at UW-Madison and includes: the Wisconsin Union, Center for Leadership & Involvement, the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life and Advancement & Alumni Engagement. All of these Departments are supported by the Wisconsin Union Administration.

Student Affairs is led by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Our staff is dedicated to serving students and to helping them succeed in and out of the classroom in areas including health and well-being, identity and inclusion, leadership and engagement, and student advocacy. Student Affairs includes departments led by the dean of students; departments that provide identity-based spaces and leadership resources; the Wisconsin Union; University Health Services; and University Recreation and Wellbeing.
